The Haywood County Commissioners decided in 2014 to send taxpayer money for Haywood County's Economic Development over to the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce and in 2017 CeCe Hipps, President of the Haywood Chamber, decided to negotiate with the City of Asheville's Chamber of Commerce to handle all large Haywood County development projects while the Haywood Chamber of Commerce would continue to handle small businesses. Most citizens of this county have no idea the City of Asheville has been over our development for the past five years. Asheville has sent some site visits but no new large development projects have closed in Haywood County over the past five years.
