Canton Mayor Zeb Smathers was quoted in the Citizen Times, "On a personal and political level, this is another sickening example of rural Americans not being respected".

The mill closing is an example of a far left Socialist agenda posted on the Pactiv Evergreen web site. Read what is posted on Pactiv Evergreen's Mission Statement below. This was the work of the radical left's mission to end corporations run by free trade and conservative business owners. By 2030 they plan to end everthing that isn't recycled. Also, to reduce emmissions and protect the sustainability of forests. Our paper mill never stood a chance with this radical left corporation.

Far Left WOKE Corporations are a new concept since the beginning of 2020, and we are just now seeing the results, like the closing of the Evergreen Paper Mill in Canton.
