Citizens may have missed the County Commissioner meeting May 1st, 2023, when four of the County Commissioners, Terry Ramey, Brandon Rogers, Jennifer Best and Tommy Long, TURNED DOWN a $1,900,000.00, NC State Pass-through grant that would have put leftist 4ft bike trails down Hwy 110 in Canton. A pass-through grant means, after the state turns the money over to the State DOT, the county has no control over how the money is spent. All the greenway trails, bike trails and rails to trails paths are used for in Asheville, are giving the vagrants a place to walk and camp. The County Commissioner Chair Kevin Ensley wanted to accept the money for the bike trails down Hwy 110, but the other four commissioners were too smart for the leftist Sunrise Movement Plan. Citizen concerns were, next would be city water and sewer and then comes the leftist smartgrowthamerica.org apartments and condos. All five voted to postpone the grant indefinitly! Way to go County Commissioners!
