Posted below is the Mission Statement of the NEW Team Waynesville City Council Candidates

VOTE FOR
Joey Reece-Town of Waynesville Mayor
Peggy Hannah-Town Council
Stephanie Sutton-Town Council
Tre' Franklin-Town Council

TEAM WAYNESVILLE understands the unique needs and aspirations of our residents and, whn elected as Mayor and members of the Waynesville Town Council, we will work diligently to restore and preserve the small-town values that have always made Waynesville a special place- a place where you can live safely, raise your family without fear of control and influence from outside forces and peacefully live-out retirement in a thriving town.

Far too long, the Democrat-led Mayor(s) and Town Council have made decisions that have made daily life worse for Waynesville residents. Instead of fixing the myriad of problems that currently exist, they have chosen to govern in a way that solely supports their ideological beliefs- much to the detriment of the greater community.

High-density construction is out-of-control. Waynesville's infrastructure is crumbling, substance abuse, homelessness and crime are skyrocketing, and the Town is deteriorating right before our eyes.

TEAM WAYNESVILLE will fight for ALL residents. Since the community's diversity is our strength, we will be open and receptive to your needs. We will not show favoritism or grant preferential treatment to any special interest group or individual. We will not fall prey to intimidation or undue influence, will govern with transparency, and WILL ALWAYS make decisions based on what is the most beneficial for the greater community.

TEAM WAYNESVILLE will never play political games. We will work with residents from all walks of life. We hold steadfast commitment to preserve our small-town values and rich cultural heritage. We will work to creae a thriving community that will be the foundation of our community's success for years to come.

SMALL TOWN VALUES
COMMON SENSE LEADERSHIP

Over the past four years, the leaders of this town have made decisions based solely on a political ideology that is contrary to our small-town values and devoid of any common sense. Waynesville is beginning to look more like Asheville, which has now earned the distinction of being included in the top 10% of most violent cities in America, rife with out of control growth, addiction, homelessness, violence, and crime. I have joined forces with a group of like-minded citizens that believe in small town values and that Waynesville is worth fighting for. Running for Town Council as part of “Team Waynesville” are Peggy Hannah, Stephanie Sutton, and Tre’ Franklin.

When elected we pledge to:

STOP OVERBUILDING OF HIGH DENSITY LIVING UNITS
839 New Housing Units have been Approved by Planning Board, Town Council, and Mayor; These are not affordable for local citizens and could increase our population by 25%
The strain on already maxed out infrastructure (Sewer, Roads, Police, Fire, EMS); a moratorium was imposed by the State due to sewer issues.
Reinstate Quasi-Judicial approval process for new construction that gives citizens a voice. The was changed by this Mayor and Council during COVID.

CONFRONT ADDICTION, HOMELESSNESS, AND CRIME
Common Sense Accountability-based programs; Harm Reduction approach has failed everywhere tried – Asheville, San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, etc.
Statistics show Waynesville has a higher violent crime rate and property crime rate than NC as a whole, with chances of being a victim of a property crime are 1 in 14.
Seek NC legislative help in reversing the decision of the current State Superior Court Judge to implement a mandatory bail policy that returns repeat criminals back into the community.

ENSURE TRANSPARENCY IN TOWN GOVERNMENT
Livestream or video record of all Town Council and Planning Board meetings.
