Becky Johnson from the Mountaineer wrote a fair article about the New Team Waynesville, but decided to fact check what Team Waynesville has heard from the employees of the town, about going electric. Keep in mind, these candidates are not employees of the town and the town is run by a government that wants you to believe they've done a great job over the past four years, so regular citizens are not privy to what is going on in their closed little circle of friends.

What we do know is the town appointed an Environmental Sustainability Board to work toward the goal of net-zero emissions. They are totally berserk about climate change and spent every board retreat discussing and trying to come up with ways to move the town toward electric everything, which is more expensive than gas or diesel. Solar panels on town owned buildings, giant charging stations and measuring the amount of ambient heat our houses put out, are a few of the subjects they've discussed.

Two of the town council members, Anthony Sutton and Jon Feichter were endorsed by the radical left Super PAC Down Home/People's Action in the 2019 election. Sutton, Feichter and Chuck Dickson have tried to implement every item on their marxist platform over the past four years, low barrier (no rules) shelters supplied with needles called Harm Reduction, social workers riding in police cars to supervise police, smartgrowthamerica.org (the great real estate reset), not speaking out against pre-trial release or no bail, and even public drinking on the streets, which were all issues the new Team Waynesville candidates fought, along with citizens of the town.

The homelessness task force was an epic failure on the part of our town council. Low Barrier (No Rules) shelters fueled with crack kits and needles called Harm Reduction, was not the answer.

The community getting vocal about the pre-trial release program is what led to any positive action for the homeless problem, and that's not anything town leaders can take credit for — despite a homelessness task force that met for 18 months and racked up a $36,000 consulting fee.

We know who came to meetings and who didn't come to meetings, but the fact is, as time went on with this current town council, they became more and more disrespectful to citizens who just wanted to give their input about how their town was being governed. Team Waynesville pledges to include citizens in thier decisions and have an open forum where citizens can actually get their questions answered. Can you imagine a town council meeting where everyone feels valued and heard? Team Waynesville will be transparent, will broadcast meetings and have clear written minutes, not just one sentence, about what a citizens public comment entailed and printing ordinance changes in the newspaper. The New Team Waynesville will be the voice of the people.
