If there were one reason to fire Dickson it would be because he voted to keep Town Attorney Bill Cannon employed.

Cannon would jump on speakers making public comments in town meetings heavily weighted toward an ultra political left. It was very inappropriate if not illegal to interfere with public comment. Dickson was the only Alderman who wanted to keep Cannon in his role.

Sample kinds of perspective that followed Cannon into the public meeting forum:

It would be difficult to consider continuation of Dickson for his vote to create an "Affordable Housing Crisis". There were no citizens asking for Affordable Housing. (The record shows one member of Down Home NC asked for affordable housing -- the same group that gives out needles if that tells you something.) Dickson was either duped or actually wanted what's too close to public housing projects popping up all over Waynesville now from his support of Waynesville Planning Director Elizabeth Teague:

The Comprehensive Land Use Plan was a FAILURE to represent the input from voters but instead took input from non-profits, left-leaning agendas, and cherry picked people. Dickson failed to recognize this stacking of the deck against the people of Waynesville. (Incidentally the same foundational failure the Homeless Task Force had in that it did not include citizen interests.)

Dickson is seemingly representing interests who want to left-wing Waynesville and not the constituents of Waynesville.

Dickson is listed as "SMHP Advisory Board of Directors" in a false study document to justify the building of all the new low-income housing that's going up in Waynesville. If you want more of this, vote for Dickson.

There are rumors that the current Town Attorney (Martha Bradley) was once affiliated with the former Town Attorney (Bill Cannon). A Google search seems to support that rumor:

Recall above that Bill Cannon was very adversarial with anyone right-leaning and downright awful for anyone who he thought was Trump-friendly. When Cannon was fired, Bradley took over.

There are now concerns surfacing about her service to the people of Waynesville:

Chuck Dickson was the lone diehard supporter of Bill Cannon. It would make sense that he is also a supporter of Ms. Bradley.

Councilman Dickson should be fired for standing up a new Environmental Sustainability Board (ESB).

"The ESB will be responsible for crafting working reference documents that will lay out timelines for achieving climate mitigation and adaptation benchmarks."

This makes no sense for our town and should be dissolved upon electing a new Council.

In the candidate forum Chuck Dickson told of his charitable service in various organizations such as the NAACP, and guardian ad litem, and others. It seems Chuck has a good heart and is accomplished. However, his "good intentions" indeed are causing harm to the town as voters would measure it. Chuck would probably be more appreciated by more people if he were to find a public service to participate other than City Council. City Council needs to push back on the government, non-profits, and special interests seeking to benefit from favorable town policies at the expense of the voters. Chuck Dickson's value system and therefore politics are compatible with our help-the-homeless, build more low-income apartments, and stack the deck for left-wingers problems we now have. Let's just help Chuck decide to find another way to help the community by not electing him as Councilman.
