During the last County Commissioner's meeting a presentation was given by a financial group, laying out the funds needed to build the new jail and the library. "Covering the jail expansion would require raising property taxes 1.7 cents per $100 of value, and the library renovation would require a hike of 0.9 cents - a total of 2.6 cents per $100 on the tax rate to cover both, according to an analysis presented to commissioners by Ted Cole with Davenport Public Finance. The Mountaineer got quotes from all of the Commisioners except Commissioner Terry Ramey, who they excluded. Commissioner Terry Ramey would like to hear from the citizens of Haywood County before he makes a decision on how he will vote.
