Monroe Miller is researching how much money Haywood County has spent through the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce and the City of Asheville Chamber of Commerce to bring Economic Development to Haywood County. From what we can tell so far, at least $500,000 was sent over to the City of Asheville's Chamber of Commerce for nothing.

Haywood County dissolved the contract with the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce in January of 2022 to form a new Economic Development Plan focused mainly on workforce housing instead of bringing in any new businesses. The new Economic Development Plan was never voted on, so the only Economic Development Plan Haywood County had in 2022 was with the City of Asheville for nothing.

Article proving in July, 2020 a new three year consulting contract for $100,000 annually with the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce to continue large scale Economic Development for Haywood County which started in 2018, so now we have five years and 2023 will be six years, of no new economic development projects in Haywood County.
