We're excited to have Haywood County Sheriff, Bill Wilke, speaking this evening. Sheriff Wilke will be giving us an update on his first few months in office, and his thoughts on the status of Haywood County Crime, Harm Reduction Programs, Needle Exchanges, Needle Litter, Greenway becoming a "Needle-way", Etc. A good question tonight will be how will they be able to patrol these proposed new Greenways and "Rails to Trails" trails?
Please find below more detailed information about the new Town of Waynesville Committee tasked with studying "Rails to Trails" for the Waynesville Tracks. The "Rails to Trails" initiatives are being introduced about the same time as the “Greenway" initiatives. Also, the "Rails to Trails" supporters, in their own words, state that "Trails and Greenways" are Advancing the "Smart Growth" Agenda.
