**The Haywood County Commissioner's unanimous vote on a Needle Litter Resolution last fall was a good start, however, the NC State Constitution leaves the responsibility of local legislation relating to health, sanitation, and the abatement of nuisances to the local legislative bodies in NC and actually prohibits the General Assembly from enacting any local, private, or special act or resolution relating to health, sanitation, and the abatement of nuisances in local communities. Please sign the new petition below that simply asks our local County Commissioners to honor their responsibility, as per the NC State Constitution, and either ban or regulate all Needle Exchanges in Haywood County since Needle Litter has become a "Health Issue", a "Sanitation Issue", and a "Public Nuisance".

Please Sign and Share the new petition for Haywood County to Ban or Regulate Needle Exchanges as per Article II, Section 24 of the NC State Constitution.

**We're excited to have Local Cyclist, Pat Parton, speaking to us at The Buttered Biscuit on 3/23 to share his research. He's been battling Needle Litter, Trash, and Overgrowth on the existing Waynesville Greenway, and discovered that both the Town and County had ceased to properly maintain the Greenway, even though they signed a contract to do so. He's been working for over a year to simply bring attention to the problem. With the new Proposed Greenways and Rails to Trails set to link Buncombe, Haywood, and Jackson Counties, he's concerned these new paths could turn into a nightmare for citizens and a dream come true for drug dealers, if the Town and County won't provide proper maintenance or law enforcement.
