REMINDER: We will begin our "Summer/Fall Session" of The Buttered Biscuit on Thursday 7/27/23; with Commissioners Kevin Ensley and Brandon Rogers speaking to us at 5:30 PM at The Buttered Biscuit, located at 1226 Dellwood Road Waynesville, NC.

** Haywood Greenway Advisory Council will have another public meeting, Tomorrow (Tuesday 5/23 from 2:00-3:30 PM), at the Lake Junaluska Welcome Center.

** If Haywood County is going to have such a vast Greenway (20+ Miles- linking Buncombe, Haywood, and Jackson Counties), what is the "Plan" to properly Patrol, Police, and maintain this Greenway? We encourage any and all Citizens interested, to please attend tomorrow's meeting and ask many questions.

** Cyclist Pat Parton discovered that both the Town of Waynesville and Haywood County have not honored their contract to maintain the tiny few miles of the "Waynesville Greenway", since 2002. Please see the recent Mountaineer article below:

https://www.themountaineer.com/news/per ... d1f2b.html (Mountaineer Article about Pat Parton's battle for maintaining the Waynesville Greenway)

** At the March 28, 2023 Haywood Greenway Meeting, Elizabeth Teague said that the new 20+ miles of Greenway will be maintained by Volunteers and will be
Safe...even though the existing Waynesville Greenway is currently full of overgrowth, trash, needles, and has encampments. Also, One Committee member (Amy Russell) mentioned the new fence at the Clyde (Lynn’s) Park, on Main Street in Downtown Clyde, was installed recently due to vagrants wandering around and discarding drug needles. She said 5-one gallon buckets were filled with discarded drug needles when the tiny park was cleaned, to install the new fence. Again, how will they patrol and maintain 20+ miles of Greenways when they can't maintain a "postage stamp" sized park on Main Street in Downtown Clyde, or the few miles of existing Greenway?
