Municipal elections will be held in Canton, Clyde, Maggie Valley and Waynesville this November, and to get a spot on the ballot, candidates must file for office no later than July 21.
In Canton, two seats will be up for election. Incumbents are Mayor Pro Tem Gail and Alderman Ralph Hamlett.
Clyde Mayor Jim Trantham’s term is up, as are the terms of Dann Jesse and John Hemmingway.
In Maggie Valley, the terms of Mayor Mike Eveland, as well as those of husband and wife Philip and Tammy Wight expire, while the entire board in Waynesville is up for grabs.
Waynesville incumbents include Mayor Gary Caldwell, and board members Chuck Dickson, Jon Feicter, Julia Freeman and Anthony Sutton.
Those interested in filing for one of the municipal offices in the county can sign up and pay a nominal filing fee at the Haywood County Board of Elections, 63 Elmwood Way, Waynesville, between July 7 and July 14.
