Mayor Mike Eveland along with Aldermen John Hinton and Jim Owens secretly jammed a lobby contract down the throats of Maggie Valley residents to the tune of $60K to stop Rep. Mark Pless and HB 184.

Mark Pless and the General Assembly putting restrictions on Maggie Valley's zoning laws.

Removing the ability of the Maggie Valley governing board to enforce zoning rules in the one-mile extra-territorial jurisdiction, no properties within town can be downzoned without the written consent of all owners, and the board has no power to enact a moratorium on development if Pless’ bill passes.
