Resolution to put safety of women and children first in Haywood County.

The Citizens of Haywood County stand together in solidarity to put the privacy, safety and dignity of women and children first in Haywood County.
The Town of Waynesville Rec Center is a central gathering place for children. Parents should feel safe dropping off their children for unsupervised periods of time.
An incident at the Town of Waynesville Rec Center, where a man ( or a "trans" man) was in the women’s locker room with two young girls, is not acceptable to the parents of children in Haywood County.
We have been told by Chief David Adams at the Town of Waynesville Police Department, that per the Grimm v. Gloucester (Title IX) ruling in the 4th District Court Case in Virgina, as long as a biological male calls himself Trans, he is allowed to expose himself/herself, in woman’s locker rooms, restrooms, showers etc., in front of women and children and he has broken no laws, unless he touches himself/herself or another person.
For all Haywood County Citizens who believe women and children's privacy, safety and dignity should be paramount, this is totally unacceptable and we stand against this in solidarity.
We are asking our Town of Waynesville Mayor and Council members and our Haywood County Commissioners, and state representatives to stand with us, and provide protection against this happening in front of our women and children.
The State of Florida has enacted Senate Bill 1674 entitled the “Safety in Private Spaces Act”. We are asking our North Carolina state representatives to enact the same legislation in NC and for our local officials to advocate and support all measures possible to protect the privacy, safety and dignity of women and children in ladies changing rooms, showers, restrooms ect.
