In the February 14, 2023 City County minutes, Anthony Sutton stated he will be going to Raleigh to try to get other modes of transportation to the area. Not one word was said about trying to speak to Mark Pless in reference to the sewer plant.

"Alderman Anthony Sutton reported that he will be meeting with Congressman Edwards on Thursday to talk
about transportation in the area. He said he will also be speaking to the General Assembly in Raleigh about a
project relating to getting other modes of transportation to Waynesville".
In the following meeting dated February 24, 2023, Gary Caldwell asked if the Board Members had any announcements and Anthony Sutton had this to say.
"Alderman Anthony Sutton reported that he spent the week in Raleigh. He met with NCDOT and NC Rails. Alderman Sutton recommended attending
the North Carolina League of Municipalities annual convention on April 23rd".

Not one word about the sewer plant was mentioned in this entire City Council meeting. The current city council only discussed having staggered terms because they knew there was a big chance they all could lose in the coming election. They also discussed recording the meetings and only Jon Feichter was was brave enough to want to show his face on a video recording because of citizen complaints. None of the other board members were in favor of video equipment and decided they might start posting audios only. This was also the meeting Councilman Chuck Dickson introduced his Environmental Sustainability Board that would measure ambient heat your house puts out.

In the January 10, 2023 minutes, Julia Freeman stated she had spoken with Rep. Mark Pless and he had money available for the sewer plant and Fire Station 2, then she is quoted in a current Smoky Mountain News article she never spoke to Rep. Mark Pless, only left him a message.

"Alderwoman Julia Freeman reported that she had an opportunity to speak with Representative Mark Pless
and he mentioned there will be money available for the Town Fire Department. Alderwoman Freeman asked
for the Town staff to work with Chief Webb to find out what the needs are for the Fire Department. She also
said that Rep. Pless mentioned that there will be more money coming to Haywood County that could help pay
for things like the Sewage Treatment Plant".

Smoky Mountain News October 31, 2023
This Smoky Mountain News article states she said this, "Council Member Julia Freeman said she called Pless’ sometime late in 2022.
“I left a message at Pless’ office about assistance with the fire station and the sewer plant,” Freeman said, adding that Pless never called her back". She only tried to call him ONE TIME and he never called her back! This shows how much she cared about the sewer crisis and the citizens of this town! She didn't even try to call him twice!

Mayor Gary Caldwell and town manager Rob Hites tried to recall what the conversation was back in 2020 when they had breakfast at the Terrace Motel back in 2020 and saw Rep. Pless!
Only Council Members Chuck Dickson and Jon Feichter decided to tell the truth, they had no contact with Rep. Mark Pless because they thought their colleagues had.
Town Councilman Jon Feichter wanted to throw the ball around again about he failed grant funding and trying to get on the distressed municipality list. After some kind of mix-up in Raleigh about the town not making the list, Town Manager Rob Hites decided to go ahead and borrow the entire $25 million instead of trying for further funding. The Town of Waynesville deserves better than this! The citizens of this town are being forced to pay back a 25 million dollar loan for the new sewer plant and this FAILED City Council doesn't have one e-mail of proof between Rep. Mark Pless and the town government that a deal was even discussed. We are a town in crisis and this current board couldn't communicate with the person who could have gotten state funding. Vote for Team Waynesville for Mayor and City Council! Our town can't stand four more years of this!
