Madison County has received an application from a private citizen to amend the county’s Mountain Ridge Protection Ordinance and do away with a 50’ setback requirement, a key provision that protects mountain ridges from development. After nearly 200 people attended the initial hearing in November, the board decided to push the hearing to December.

The Planning Board voted YES to allowing ridgeline building in Madison County! The County Commissioners plan to vote YES or NO at the next meeting! Plan to attend and let your voice be heard! We're the Jewel of the Blue Ridge Mountains and we can be different than all the other counties that allow it! Vote NO to building on our beautiful ridgelines!
